Year in review

Eight years of impact

Over eight years, Food Frontier has worked to move alternative proteins in Australia and New Zealand from the margins to the mainstream. From pioneering the first independent economic modelling of the plant-based meat sector, to contributing evidence to federal and state policy processes, convening the region’s largest dedicated alternative protein conference, and producing research that informed government, industry and media — this body of work has helped lay enduring foundations for a more diverse and sustainable food future.

As Food Frontier enters a new chapter through its merger with Cellular Agriculture Australia in 2026, this report reflects on eight years of collective progress across research, policy, ecosystem development, industry engagement and public discourse. We are grateful to the donors, partners and collaborators whose support made this work possible.
