Starbucks and KFC launch plant-based menu items  in China

As China reopens food outlets post COVID-19 lockdowns, two major fast food restaurants are bringing plant-based meat to Chinese consumers.

After successful trials and launches in the U.S., KFC announced it is trialling plant-based chicken in its restaurants across Shanghai, Shenzen and Guangzhou. Not to be outdone, Starbucks is offering a new plant-based lunch menu, with dishes featuring Beyond Meat – marking the U.S. company’s Chinese debut – as well as Hong Kong-based OmniPork.
