Susie O’Neill

Head of Industry Engagement

Susie engages with Food Frontier’s stakeholders across the alt proteins value chain, sharing knowledge and networks to advance the industry. She enjoys translating complex scientific data into valuable insights and identifying opportunities for collaboration and problem-solving, skills which she employs to assist alt proteins companies in generating value from their innovative products that sustainably bring tasty new protein options to consumers. Susie’s connection with food and agriculture started growing up on the family farm in NSW and was further developed through working in sales, marketing and executive roles with Bayer CropScience. Her skills in building value for stakeholders through agricultural productivity and innovation led her to manage a team of plant breeders, scientists and regulators to gain approval for GM canola in Australia. Through working with primary producers, government, research and development, regulatory and supply chain organisations, Susie and her team developed supply chain protocols to manage grain segregation to meet market requirements. She further honed her stakeholder engagement skills working with VicForests to understand the needs of diverse stakeholders to find common ground in balancing the conservation needs and the timber value of Victoria’s native forest estate.  Susie recently completed an MBA, equipping her with design thinking and futures thinking techniques she believes can uncover new ways to solve problems and envision future pathways for an emerging sector. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
